President Prabowo Joins in International Labor Day Celebration at National Monument

President Prabowo Subianto joined in the celebration of the 2025 International Labor Day, at the National Monument (Monas), Jakarta, on Thursday (05/01). President Prabowo’s presence represented a concrete symbol of the Government’s support for the struggles and aspirations of all Indonesian workers.
President Prabowo arrived at the venue at 10.00 a.m. Indonesian Western Time. On his way to the main stage, the President waved his hand and greeted warmly the participants who kept shouting encouraging slogans. The President showed his appreciation to all people at the venue.
President Prabowo’s presence at the celebration become a historical moment, as within the last 60 years, he was the first Indonesian President who joined firsthand in the celebration of the May Day.
More than 200,000 of laborers and workers from various parts of Indonesia attended the celebration. The event was cheerful and brought a mood of togetherness. Since the early morning, the great mass of workers crowded the Monas complex, bringing with them labor unions attributes while playing music and shouting encouraging slogans which echoed throughout the area.
In his remarks, President Prabowo expressed his appreciation and gratitude to all workers for their contribution to the development of the national economy. He also reaffirmed his commitment to fighting for workers’ rights, improving their quality of life, and creating a fairer and more productive work environment.
“Happy International Labor Day, May Day. May God protect us all. We must work together. I ask for your support and assistance to save people’s resources and our nation’s resources. These resources must be enjoyed by all people of Indonesia,” stated the President.
President Prabowo’s presence at the May Day celebration was also expected to be the initial stage of collaboration and synergy between the Government and workers in developing Indonesia towards a fairer and more prosperous Indonesia.
“For many times, I promise to enforce the law. I will take tough measures against those who break the law or steal our nation’s wealth, because it is my obligation, my pledge, to all people of Indonesia in the name of Allah,” said the President.
Also present at the celebration were Speaker of the People’s Consultative Assembly Ahmad Muzani, Speaker of the House of Representatives Puan Maharani, Vice Speaker of the House of Representatives Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, a number of Ministers of the Red-and-White Cabinet, Commander of the Indonesian National Defense Forces General Agus Subianto, Chief of the Indonesian National Police General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, Secretary General of the International Labor Union Shoya Yoshida, President of the Confederation of Indonesian Labor Union Ely Rosita Silaban, Chairperson of the Confederation of Indonesian Trade Union Jumhur Hidayat, President of the Confederation of Indonesian Trade Union Andi Gani Nena Wea, and President of Indonesian Trade Union Confederation Said Iqbal.
