President Prabowo Launches PANDU Tactical EV

President Prabowo Subianto officially launched the MV3-EV PANDU, a tactical electric vehicle (EV) produced by PT Pindad (a state-owned arms manufacturer), at the Indo Defence 2025 Expo and Forum held at JIEXPO Kemayoran, Jakarta, on Wednesday (06/11).
The launch commenced with the signing of the vehicle’s license plate by President Prabowo, marking the beginning of a new chapter in domestically produced, eco-friendly defense vehicles.
For the record, the MV3-EV PANDU is an enhanced version of the EV3 platform previously supplied to the Ministry of Defense. The vehicle, previously powered by a diesel internal combustion engine (ICE), has now been converted into a fully electric-powered vehicle.
“The PANDU is based on the EV3 platform that we have previously developed and then supplied to the Ministry of Defense. We have further improved and redeveloped it by converting this previously diesel ICE-based vehicle into an EV,” PT Pindad Vice President Rakhmad Aryo said after the launch.
The vehicle also marks a historic milestone for PT Pindad. “We are extremely proud to have built an EV, especially because the President also officially launched it,” Rakhmad added.
According to Rakhmad, the development of this tactical EV aligns with national defense objectives and supports renewable energy policies as stipulated in the Presidential Regulation. PT Pindad is also committed to building a domestic EV industry ecosystem.
“We’re not just building the product. We’re developing the entire industrial ecosystem. All parts of PANDU will eventually be domestically produced,” he said.
This tactical EV represents significant progress for Indonesia in advancing eco-friendly defense technology while bolstering the national strategic industry’s independence. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat) (FI/TM)
