President Prabowo Subianto on Saturday (05/16) led the simultaneous great harvest of corn in the second quarter of 2026 in Tuban regency, East Java province. The harvest was part of the Government’s commitment to strengthening national food security, increasing agricultural productivity, and improving farmers’ welfare in all regions across the country.

On the occasion, the President visited in person the harvesting area and even operated the corn harvester himself to reap the corn harvest along with farmers. This moment attracted the participants and the public present at the event, showing the President’s direct support for the national agricultural modernization.

The event was attended by central and regional government officials, personnel of the Indonesian National Defence Forces and the Indonesian National Police, farmer groups, and food business communities. It was also held at various corn farms across the nation.

In his report, Chief of the Indonesian National Police Listyo Sigit Prabowo stated that the great harvest of corn in the second quarter of 2026 was organized simultaneously in areas covering 189,760 hectares, which produced around 1.23 million tons of corn, a certain amount of which will also be exported to Malaysia.

“As much as 100 tons of corn will be exported to Malaysia through the border gate of Jagoi-Babang, Bengkayang regency, West Kalimantan,” he explained.

Particularly in Tuban regency, the great harvest was organized on an area of 101.5 hectares that also serves as social forest land jointly managed by KTH Wonolestari, LMDH Jenggolomanik, LMDH Wonomoyo, and PT Semen Indonesia (a state-owned cement company).

“From this area, crop yields are estimated to reach 609 tons, all of which will be sent to and managed by Bulog (the state logistics agency) to support the Government’s food reserves and maintain the stability of food supplies,” he continued.

This event reflects the Government’s concrete measures to strengthen national food self-sufficiency, improve agricultural productivity, and open up opportunities for agricultural commodities export. The support for modernization of agricultural equipment and reinforcement of cooperatives is expected to improve the farmers’ welfare and strengthen the villages’ economy across Indonesia.  (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat) (RD/TM)
