President Prabowo Subianto, Thursday (7/31), led a meeting with members of the National Economic Council (DEN) to discuss the national economic conditions and future strategic policy directions at his private residence in Hambalang, Bogor Regency.
In a written statement, Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya conveyed the DEN’s statement delivered to the President regarding global economic challenges and Indonesia’s strategic opportunities amid the global uncertainty.
“The world is currently facing global uncertainty, even the highest in history. This situation demands vigilance and readiness to take anticipatory measures,” said the DEN statement, restated by Cabinet Secretary Teddy.
Nevertheless, Cabinet Secretary Teddy said Indonesia remains optimistic and is believed to manage to maintain its economic growth at a relatively high level compared to other countries. “This reflects the solid fundamental of the national economy,” the statement continued.
He also stated that President Prabowo emphasized the importance of anticipation and concrete strategies to maintain the economic stability.
“The Head of State also instructed that amid the global economic uncertainty, we must remain vigilant and prepare concrete steps to maintain resilience and accelerate the national economic growth,” Cabinet Secretary Teddy wrote.
One of the strategic opportunities highlighted is Indonesia’s success in trade negotiations with the United States. The agreement is considered capable of encouraging exports and investment, particularly in labor-intensive sectors that contribute significantly to job creation.
Furthermore, deregulation is reiterated as a key factor in accelerating the economy. “Regulatory simplification will become a catalyst for inclusive and sustainable economic acceleration,” he added.
The meeting in Hambalang demonstrated the government’s commitment to preparing an adaptive economic policy roadmap to ensure that Indonesia remains resilient to encounter global shocks while capitalizing on the existing growth momentum.
