President Prabowo Leaves for Beijing to Attend 2025 China Victory Day Parade

President Prabowo Subianto Tuesday (09/02) headed to Beijing, People’s Republic of China to attend Chinese Victory Day Parade following an official invitation from Chinese President Xi Jinping.

The President and his entourage took off at around 20:00 Western Indonesian time from Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base in East Jakarta.

Minister of State Secretariat Prasetyo Hadi said that the visit to accept President Xi’s invitation was originally planned for August 31.

However, the President postponed it because of the evolving situation at home.

Prasetyo further stated that the Chinese Government specially requested the President to attend the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the Chinese victory against Japanese aggression and the end of World War II amd the military parade taking place in Beijing.

“Within the past few days, there has been an urgent request from the Chinese Government that President Prabowo Subianto attend, at least for one day, the 80th anniversary event and the military parade of the Chinese Government,” he said.

Prasetyo also underscored that the Head of State always considers all the dynamics happening within the country when making decisions, and he deems it important to maintain good relations with China.

“For that reason, to maintain good relations with the Chinese Government, the President has decided to leave tonight, and he will have already returned home by the next evening,” he said, adding that the President is expected to meet with several global leaders in attendance.

“He will certainly meet global leaders, especially President Xi. We hope, we all hope that perhaps during his visit, there will be dialogues that hopefully can bring good to Indonesia’s relations with the Chinese Government,” he remarked.
