President Prabowo Subianto attended the National Commemoration of Nuzulul Qur’an (the revelation of Al-Qur’an) 1447 AH/2026 CE at the State Palace, Jakarta, Tuesday (03/10). The commemoration became a momentum of spiritual reflection for Indonesian people to strengthen Al-Qur’an values in social, national and state life.

The event began with the recitation of the holy verses of Al-Qur’an from Surah An-Najm verses 1 to 20 by the young qari (Al-Qur’an reciter) M. Zian Fahrezi, a 4th grade elementary school student who won 1st place in the children’s category in the 3rd Al-Ameed International Musabaqah Tilawatil Qur’an (MTQ) in Karbala, Republic of Iraq, in 2026, and saritilawah (the meaning of the verses) by Velly Syukron. The recitation of the holy verses created a solemn and devout atmosphere, while reminding us of the greatness of Allah SWT’s mercy and blessings for mankind.

In his remarks, President Prabowo invited all Indonesian people to make the commemoration of Nuzulul Qur’an an opportunity to strengthen their faith, a source of inspiration in maintaining the unity of the Indonesian nation, and in realizing a peaceful, just life that brings rahmatan lil ‘alamin (a blessing for the universe).

“I believe this Nuzulul Qur’an commemoration is an opportunity for all of us to understand, to absorb, and to internalize the meaning of what is taught in the Qur’an,” President Prabowo said.

Meanwhile, Minister of Religious Affairs Nasaruddin Umar said that the national commemoration of Nuzulul Qur’an this year is a reminder for all Indonesians to always make Al-Qur’an a source of values and guidance in national and state life.

“The Nuzulul Qur’an commemoration held tonight is part of a joint effort to bring the values of Al-Qur’an into public life, so that its teachings are not only read and internalized, memorized, but also truly practiced in everyday life,” Nasaruddin said.

Furthermore, ulema and muslim scholar Muhammad Quraish Shihab delivered an explanation of the wisdom of Nuzulul Qur’an. In his sermon, Quraish Shihab invited all attendees to reflect on the profound meaning behind the revelation of Al-Qur’an as a blessing and guidance for all creation. Quraish Shihab emphasized that Al-Qur’an is not merely a book to be read, but must be internalized, practiced, and used as a foundation for building a diverse Indonesia.

“Allah wants to teach us that differences are inevitable. But differences should not lead to conflict. If we differed in fasting yesterday, there’s a possibility that we will also differ in celebrating the Eid. But such differences didn’t lead to any conflict. The differences envisioned by Al-Quran align with our national philosophy, Bhinneka Tunggal Ika (unity in diversity),” said Quraish Shihab.

Through this commemoration, the Government hopes that the spirit of Ramadan will further strengthen national brotherhood and foster a shared commitment to building a civilized, harmonious, and virtuous Indonesia, in line with the universal message of Al-Qur’an as a blessing for all the universe.
