President Prabowo Meets European Council President in Belgium

President Prabowo Subianto Sunday (07/13) held a bilateral meeting with President of the European Council António Costa at the Europa Building in Brussels, Belgium.
The meeting marked a major milestone in Indonesia-EU relations, highlighting significant progress in negotiations on the Indonesia–EU Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (IEU–CEPA).
“Today is a historic day for me. After 10 years of sometimes difficult negotiations, we have finally achieved a breakthrough,” said President Prabowo.
According to the President, the IEU–CEPA reflects growing mutual trust and a shared commitment to inclusive, values-based economic cooperation. The President also stated that Indonesia and Europe have complementary strengths in technology, energy, food security, and essential minerals.
“We see Europe as a key partner and hope it will continue to play a central role in promoting global peace and stability. The world is shifting toward a multipolar order,” he added.
President Prabowo also shared his vision of expanding educational and healthcare opportunities for Indonesia’s youth through collaboration with Europe and highlighted the importance of fostering a healthy, sustainable investment climate to benefit businesses on both sides.
“Once again, we look forward to even closer and stronger cooperation in the years ahead,” the President remarked.
For the record, President Prabowo was accompanied by Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto, Minister of Trade Budi Santoso, Minister of Investment and Downstreaming/Head of the Investment Coordinating Board Rosan Roeslani, Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, and Indonesian Ambassador to the Kingdom of Belgium Andri Hadi, on the meeting.
