President Prabowo Subianto Wednesday (7/23) hosted the Speaker of the People’s Consultative Assembly of the Republic of Indonesia (MPR RI) at Merdeka Palace, Jakarta. This meeting, which discussed institutional matters, served as a lead-up to the Annual Session of the MPR RI, commemorating Indonesia’s Independence Day.

Following the meeting, MPR Speaker Ahmad Muzani told the media that the MPR had formally extended an invitation to President Prabowo to attend and deliver a state address at the Annual Session of the MPR RI. “According to the MPR rules of procedure, the annual session originally scheduled for August 16 has been moved to Friday, August 15. The President has agreed to this adjustment,” said Ahmad Muzani.

Additionally, the MPR also invited the President to join the Constitution Day commemoration on August 18, 2025. “We also discussed the Constitution Day on August 18, and extended an invitation for the President to attend,” he added.

The discussion further delved into the State Policy Guidelines (PPHN) draft, which was formulated by an expert team. Ahmad Muzani went on to say that President Prabowo called for the draft to be thoroughly re-examined for refinement.

“The President has asked the draft to be re-reviewed for improvement. Once finalized, a decision will be made regarding the adoption of its legal format —be it through an MPR Decree, law, or any alternative legal product,” Murzani explained.

During the meeting, the MPR Speaker praised President Prabowo’s recent international activities, including diplomatic trips to Saudi Arabia, Brazil for the BRICS Summit, and France to attend the Bastille Day commemoration. The President also received commendation for his tangible efforts to fulfill and improve the basic needs of people.

“We highly commend the efforts made to uphold the dignity and pride of Indonesia as a prominent and respected nation in the international community. Likewise, we recognize the President’s various strategic policies, especially in ensuring food supply and addressing the people’s essential needs,” he said.

Concluding his statement, the MPR Speaker voiced strong support for President Prabowo’s consistent advocacy for the Palestinian people at various international forums. “The President affirmed Indonesia’s unwavering support for Palestine. To this end, a set of state policy guidelines is essential to unify our efforts,” he said. (Bureau of Press, Media, and Information (BPMI) of Presidential Secretariat) (WK/MUR)
