President Prabowo Subianto met with Prime Minister of Malaysia Anwar Ibrahim at the Petronas Twin Towers, Kuala Lumpur on Monday (01/27).

Upon arrival at the Petronas Twin Towers at around 14.30 local time, President Prabowo was directly greeted by PM Anwar Ibrahim who was waiting at the arrival lobby. The President was also welcomed by children of Malaysia wearing traditional clothes, lining up creating warm and festive atmosphere.

In addition, traditional Malaysian dance also enlivened the welcoming ceremony. President Prabowo and PM Anwar Ibrahim were watching the performance while having a friendly talk.

After the welcoming ceremony, both leaders headed to the meeting room. The meeting was also joined by delegates from both countries.

Following the meeting, President Prabowo and PM Anwar Ibrahim held a joint press conference. In his statement, President Prabowo expressed his deepest gratitude to the government and people of Malaysia for the warm welcome during his state visit, He also expressed his appreciation for the conferment of the Darjah Kerabat Johor Yang Amat Dihormati Pangkat Pertama (D.K I Johor) or The Most Esteemed Royal Family Order of Johor (First Class) by Yang di-Pertuan Agong XVII Sultan Ibrahim.

“This shows the close relations between me and Malaysia, as well as between me and the Johor Sultanate family,” the President said.

Meanwhile, PM Anwar Ibrahim defined the visit and conferment of the honor to President Prabowo as a form of robust friendship with Malaysia. The PM also underlined that the accolade was higher than the title he holds.

“Of course, we are elated with this development, which shows the specialness, the uniqueness of friendship and relations that do not apply between other countries,” he said.
