President Prabowo Subianto firmly rejected the presence of mafia within the Government and highlighted that integrity and national unity are the keys to the nation’s prosperity.

President Prabowo described the country as a living body, in which wealth and natural resources play a role as blood that sustains the nation. He also stated that resource management must be carried out responsibly, ensuring that the benefits are shared by all citizens.

“If our resources leak, our blood is being drained. If this continues year after year, decade after decade, it does not require a genius or a PhD to see that in the end, we will fail as a nation,” the President said in his remarks at the destruction of drug evidence at the Bhayangkara Field, the Indonesian National Police Headquarters (Mabes Polri), Jakarta, Wednesday (10/29).

President Prabowo also explained that one of his administration’s early priorities is to identify and secure the nation’s wealth, ensuring it does not continue to flow abroad. He also emphasized the importance of cross-institutional collaboration and a spirit of mutual cooperation in upholding the law and improving the welfare of the people.

“If the system is flawed, we must have the courage to fix it, and there must be no government within the Government, no mafia within the administration. There must be no smart individuals within the administration who think they can outsmart others, outsmart political leaders, outsmart the people, because I have noticed that there are those who use the system to steal the people’s money, the state’s money. We must root this out completely,” he said.

On the occasion, the President also said that national unity is the key to Indonesia’s awakening. “Indonesia must be brave and embrace its own way. We are a democracy, yes, we can have different parties, we can compete, we can have regional and presidential elections, and that’s fine. But after competing, we must come together, cooperate, and work together,” the President said. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat) (FI/LW)
