President Prabowo Orders Gambir Station and Monas Area Revitalization, Railway Development in Bali

President Prabowo Subianto, on Thursday (11/5), invited the President Director of PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI), Bobby Rasyidin, to the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta on Thursday afternoon. Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya said in a statement that the meeting discussed plans for developing transportation infrastructure and public facilities, both in Jakarta and Bali.

“During the meeting, the President gave directives to revitalize the National Monument (Monas) area and develop railway services in Bali,” he said.

The Cabinet Secretary said that one of the President’s directives was to revitalize Gambir Station, which has been built since the 1970s and has never been renovated.

“Gambir Station is expected to become a national station center as well as an entertainment, tourism, and family recreation areas in the heart of the capital,” he said.

Moreover, President Prabowo also ordered for revitalization of the Monas area to make it more comfortable and beautiful, while also strengthening its historical and educational values for visitors. He further asked for the construction of the Grand National Museum in the Monas area.

“Upon the completion of the revitalization of the National Gallery and Gajah Museum, the President wants Indonesia to have a large-scale museum that will serve as a center for history, education, entertainment, and recreation, especially for students and the younger generation,” said the Cabinet Secretary.

In the transportation sector, the Cabinet Secretary added, President Prabowo also directed the start of the construction of railway services in Bali province.

“For the initial phase, the line is planned to connect I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport with several tourist areas, such as Kuta, Legian, Seminyak, and Canggu, as well as areas in the northern region,” he said.

These various development plans are part of President Prabowo’s desire to provide better public facilities, serving as the national pride.

“Mr. President expressed hope that the Monas area and Gambir station revitalization, Grand Museum construction, and railway service development in Bali will not only provide better public facilities but also become the nation’s pride,” he concluded. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat) (JAS/MMB)
