President Prabowo Orders Immediate Response to Address NTT Earthquake

The Government is moving swiftly to assist the people affected by the earthquake in Flores, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) province. Since early this morning, President Prabowo Subianto has ordered all government agencies to immediately carry out response measures and ensure that affected communities receive the assistance they need.

Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya in a written statement on Saturday (08/15) said that President Prabowo has assigned several central government officials to directly deploy to the affected areas in Labuan Bajo and Maumere today.

“President Prabowo has ordered all government agencies to move quickly to carry out response measures and ensure that affected communities receive the assistance they need. President Prabowo has also assigned several central [Govt. –ed] officials to directly go to Labuan Bajo and Maumere today,” Teddy said.

According to him, the officials assigned to directly deploy to Labuan Bajo and Maumere include Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Cultural Affairs, Minister of Home Affairs, Minister of Public Works, Head of the National Disaster Management Agency, Head of the National Search and Rescue Agency, the Deputy Minister of Health, and the Deputy Minister of Social Affairs.

Teams from several state-owned enterprises (BUMN) and related agencies were also deployed, namely from PLN, Telkom, Pertamina, and Bulog, to support the handling of community needs in the affected areas.

In addition, the Cabinet Secretary stated that the Government has also dispatched assistance in the form of basic necessities for affected communities. A total of 50,000 basic food packages from Presidential Assistance have been dispatched to Maumere.

Furthermore, he stated that the Government is ensuring that response in the field will continue to be carried out quickly and precisely with the involvement of all relevant elements.
