Upon receiving a report from Minister of Housing and Settlement Area, Maruarar Sirat, in the meeting at Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, Wednesday (03/19), President Prabowo Subianto emphasized his commitment to intensively promote pro-people policies in the housing sector, ranging from fee exemption to service acceleration for low-income communities.

Maruarar explained that President Prabowo ordered massive dissemination of policies that ease people’s burdens throughout Indonesia.

“President ordered that pro-people policies, such as elimination of BPHTB (Land and Building Acquisition Fees) from 5% to 0% and PBG (Building Construction Approval) to Rp.0, as well as VAT that will be borne by the Government until June 2025, be disseminated massively throughout Indonesia so the policies can make a favorable impact on low-income communities,” he said in his press statement after the meeting.

On that occasion, the Minister also reported on the completion progress of Wisma Atlet (an athlete village), in Pademangan, Jakarta. Three towers (towers 8, 9, and 10) have been completed and are ready to be handed over.

“The towers are already completed and ready to be handed over. Some of them can be used by the public and civil servants and the Minister of State Secretary will arrange their use,” he added.

In addition, the Minister also reported the progress of subsidized housing construction until March 2025. The total number of subsidized houses that have been built and distributed has reached more than 130,000 units, with various construction status, contracts, and credit distribution.

President Prabowo gave special attention to the quality of subsidized houses and emphasized that the quality of subsidized houses must be maintained.

“The President said that subsidized houses should not mean those with poorquality. Instead, they have to be in good quality. There are many examples of subsidized houses with good quality, while those with poor quality will harm the people,” said Maruarar.

He also reported on the construction progress of housing for Indonesian Army and Indonesian National Police personnel. A total of 5,760 units will be built in cooperation with the Indonesian Army in various regions such as Brebes, Bogor, Bantul, Bekasi, and Serang. Meanwhile, the Indonesian National Police cooperates in the development of 14,389 housing units in Karawang.

He also stated the plan to hand over house keys to teachers on March 25th in various regions such as Bogor, Makassar, Aceh, Medan, Pontianak, Kupang, Bangkalan Madura, and Jayapura. There will be 20,000 housing units in total, with 250 units will be handed over symbolically in the event.

Moreover, President Prabowo has also ordered the optimal utilization of state assets for housing development, including lands owned by State-Owned Enterprises, Directorate General of State Assets, and assets related to the Bank Indonesia Liquidity Support (BLBI).

As a part of the Government’s commitment to provide social justice for the people, Maruarar said that the Government will soon establish Housing Construction Acceleration Agency (BP3) as mandated by Job Creation Law.

“BP3 is a balanced housing initiative with which developers are required to build two medium-sized houses and three modest houses for every luxury house they build. This aims to promote social justice,” he concluded. (Bureau of Press, Media, and Information of the Presidential Secretariat) (TCUD/RAS/TM)
