President Prabowo Pays Official Visit to Ottawa, Indonesia-Canada to Sign ICA-CEPA

Following the United States of America’s visit, President Prabowo Subianto on Wednesday (24/09) arrived at Ottawa Macdonald-Cartier International Airport, Canada, at 13.30 local time. The visit marked the President’s official visit to Canada, enhancing strategic partnerships between Indonesia and Canada.

Upon his arrival, President Prabowo was welcomed by Canada’s Minister of International Trade Maninder Shindu, Canadian Ambassador to Indonesia Jess Dutton, and Indonesian Ambassador to Canada Muhsin Syihab as well as Indonesian Defense Attache First Marshal Edwardus Wisoko Aribowo.

From the airport, President Prabowo and delegates were directed to the hotel where he is staying during his visit to Ottawa. During this official visit, the President is scheduled to have an agenda series, including a bilateral meeting with the Governor General of Canada Mary Simon, at Rideau Hall.

President Prabowo will also have a tête-à-tête with the Prime Minister of Canada Mark Carney, at the West Block, Parliament Hall. The meeting is expected to strengthen cooperation between the two countries in various strategic sectors.

The other agenda of the official visit is the signing of the Indonesia-Canada Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (ICA-CEPA), marking the first Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between Indonesia and a North American trade partner.

Previously, President Prabowo departed from John F. Kennedy International Airport, New York, at 12.20 local time.
