President Prabowo Pays Zakat to BAZNAS at State Palace

President Prabowo Subianto, Thursday (03/27), paid zakat to the National Zakat Management Agency (BAZNAS) at the State Palace, Jakarta. The occasion showed President Prabowo’s strong commitment in supporting professional and transparent zakat management in order to empower ummah and eradicate poverty.
Chairperson of BAZNAZ Prof. Dr. K.H. Noor Achmad in his report mentioned about the achievements and strategic role of BAZNAS in distributing zakat to the people. He added that the number of zakat collected and zakat payers in Indonesia continues to increase every year.
“So, it means that Indonesian people is a really great community who, insya Allah, will not keep their possessions only to themselves, because they give a part of it to their brothers and sisters in need,” BAZNAS’ Chairperson said,
As a symbol of BAZNAS’ commitment in empowering ummah, BAZNAS’ Chairperson also gave the aid to five representatives of zakat program beneficiaries that was witnessed by President Prabowo.
President Prabowo expressed appreciation for the important role and hard work of BAZNAS, domestically or internationally. The President also invited all ranks of the Government to keep improving the important role of BAZNAS.
“Thank you BAZNAS. Let us work and do our efforts to strengthen our BAZNAS in various sectors; ministers, ministries/institutions that have authority may have ideas of how to strengthen more our BAZNAS,” the President remarked.
During the occasion, President Prabowo paid his zakat to BAZNAS, showing a good example of what muslims must do, especially the state officials, to pay their zakat through an official institution.
Attending the occasion and also paying their zakat to BAZNAS were Vice President Gibran Rakabuming, heads of state institutions, ministers of the Red and White Cabinet, and a number of CEOs of State-Owned Enterprises. (Bureau of Press, Media, and Information of Presidential Secretariat) (AW/MMB)
