President Prabowo, People’s Consultative Assembly Speakers Discuss Annual Session, Main Principles of State Policy

President Prabowo Subianto, Monday (08/03), met with Speakers and Vice Speakers of People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) at Merdeka Palace in Jakarta.

The meeting discussed several national agendas, including preparations for the 2026 Annual Session of the MPR, the celebration of Constitution Day and the MPR anniversary, and the draft of the Main Principles of State Policy (PPHN) composed by the MPR.

“President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto just received the People’s Consultative Assembly. The fruitful discussion and dialogue proceeded in a quite intense yet relaxed manner. Our meeting with the President is primarily a part of national harmony and consultation between heads of state institutions,” Speaker of MPR Ahmad Muzani said in his press statement following the meeting.

“We came here today to invite the President of the Republic of Indonesia as the Head of State to deliver the annual report on the performance of state institutions before the Session of the People’s Consultative Assembly,” he said.

Muzani pointed out that the MPR speakers also invited the President to attend the celebration of the Constitution Day and Anniversary of the MPR on August 29.

“We also invited the President to celebrate the Constitution Day, which falls on August 18, and the Anniversary of the MPR, which falls on August 29. We are celebrating two important events on the same day on August 29,” he said.

During the meeting, the MPR Speaker also stated that they discussed the draft of the PPHN to enhance its substance, adding that the President expressed support for its formulation and handed over the mechanism for stipulating the document to the MPR according to its authorities.

“The President essentially entrusted the stipulation of the Main Principles of State Policy to the People’s Consultative Assembly. It will serve as a cross-institutional guideline since the PPHN is not intended for a temporary government period.
