President Prabowo Subianto and Premier of the People’s Republic of China Li Qiang attended the Indonesia-China Business Reception 2025 at the Shangri-La Hotel, Jakarta, on Saturday (05/24).

The event was among the key activities during Premier Li Qiang’s official visit to Indonesia, highlighting the strong economic and trade ties between both countries.

Before meeting with Premier Li Qiang, President Prabowo witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on enhancing strategic cooperation between the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce (KADIN) and the Chinese Chamber of Commerce in Indonesia. The MoU marks the shared commitment between the business communities of both countries to deepening cooperation in several sectors.

After the signing, President Prabowo welcomed Premier Li Qiang with a handshake, marking their first meeting since the Premier’s arrival in Jakarta.  The two leaders then had a group photo session with their delegations and visited an exhibition showcasing the products of Indonesia-China economic and trade cooperation.

The event’s highlight was the Indonesia-China Business Reception 2025, a forum to bring together business leaders from both countries. In his remarks, President Prabowo expressed deep respect for the long-standing relationship between both countries, noting that their ties started before diplomatic relations, as shown by historical inscriptions.

“Our relations did not just start with the establishment of diplomatic ties by our countries, but they have long existed. Evidence of our relations can be found in inscriptions across our nations and countries,” the President said.

President Prabowo’s presence at the event affirmed the Government’s commitment to promoting economic and trade diplomacy as well as fostering broader, inclusive, and sustainable cooperation with China. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat) (FI/TM)
