President Prabowo, President Macron Discuss Defense Cooperation, IEU-CEPA at Élysée

President Prabowo Subianto and French President Emmanuel Macron Thursday (05/28) discussed strengthening the two countries’ bilateral relations in priority sectors during a bilateral meeting at the Élysée Palace in Paris.
Previously in their joint statement, President Prabowo mentioned several strategic issues that would be their priority topics of discussion, including the implementation of the Indonesia–European Union Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (IEU-CEPA).
“Today, I expect that we will discuss several important issues. Cooperation in the sectors of defense, clean energy, education, research, and the implementation of the Indonesia–European Union CEPA. We greatly appreciate President Macron’s support in accelerating this process,” he said in the joint statement.
President Prabowo further stated that Indonesia–France relations are at their strongest while expressing appreciation for President Macron’s commitment and leadership in promoting a stronger partnership between the two countries.
“Your Excellency, the relations between Indonesia and France are currently at their strongest. We greatly appreciate and hold in the highest regard the leadership of Your Excellency President Macron,” he said.
According to President Prabowo, Indonesia and France share many similar views in various global and regional issues.
“In several cases, Indonesia and France share the same position, and our bilateral relationship is currently in a very good state. This is due in large part to the direct support of President Macron. We have great relations in the defense sector, as well as in science and technology. We wish to further deepen our cooperation in education,” he said.
The bilateral meeting reaffirmed the commitment of the two countries to continuously expanding mutual cooperation and strengthening their contribution to maintain stability, peace, and development amid everchanging global dynamics. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat) (DH/MMB)
