President Prabowo, President Putin Affirm Strategic Ties of Indonesia-Russia in Vladivostok

President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto had a bilateral meeting with President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin in Vladivostok, Russia, on Thursday (9/3). The meeting was formatted as a working lunch at a side event of the 11th Eastern Economic Forum (EEF).
In his remarks, President Putin first welcomed President Prabowo in Vladivostok. He further emphasized that the intensity of the meeting and communication between him and President Prabowo reflected the strategic relations between the countries.
“Your Excellency, Mr. President, let me welcome you to Vladivostok city. This meeting is our second meeting this year. And our personal contact shows how strategic the bilateral meeting between Russia and Indonesia is,” President Putin stated.
President Putin also expressed appreciation for President Prabowo’s taking the time to visit Vladivostok and attend the EEF as the principal guest of honor.
“I would like to say thank you for taking the time to visit Vladivostok city and attend EEF as the principal guest of honor. We are very excited to welcome you today, Mr. President. Welcome,” President Putin explained.
On the occasion, President Prabowo also expressed appreciation for the warm welcome from the government of Russia during his visit to Vladivostok. “Thank you, Your Excellency, President Putin, the President of the Russian Federation. Firstly, I am very excited to meet Your Excellency. Thank you for the warm welcome. I feel honored and excited to visit Vladivostok,” President Prabowo stated.
President Prabowo also congratulated for National Day of the Russian Federation on June 12, 2026, and the 35th ASEAN-Russia Commemorative Summit on June 18, 2026. He further apologized for his absence from both events.
“I am deeply sorry for not attending those events due to national matters that I could not leave,” President Prabowo explained.
However, President Prabowo reaffirmed his presence in Vladivostok as a form of respect and a commitment to the two countries’ bilateral relations.
“But I have kept my promise to come to Vladivostok. Once again, thank you,” President Prabowo stressed.
Accompanying President Prabowo at the meeting were Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto, Minister of Foreign Affairs Sugiono, Minister of Investment and Downstream/ Head of BKPM Rosan Roeslani, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia, Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology Brian Yuliarto, Minister of Investment and Downstreaming Rosan Roeslani, Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, and Indonesian Ambassador to the Russian Federation and Republic of Belarus, Jose Antonio Morato Tavares.
