President Prabowo, Ramos-Horta Deepen Partnership, Scientific Collaboration

President Prabowo Subianto on Friday (08/28) received President of Timor-Leste José Ramos-Horta and 20 Nobel laureates from various countries at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta. The meeting is a historical moment to strengthen relationship between Indonesia and Timor-Leste and to create more opportunities for collaboration across a range of strategic areas.

Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya in his written statement said that the Nobel laureates attending the meeting have diverse backgrounds and expertise, such as in peace, science, chemistry, food, and other expertise.

According to him, the meeting not only serves as an effort to enhance Indonesia-Timor-Leste’s relations but also open more collaboration in environment, higher education, science, and innovation.

The meeting was also attended by a number of Red and White Cabinet minister and representatives of Commission IV of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) overseeing environment. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat) (RAS/AW)
