President Prabowo Subianto has reaffirmed the Indonesian Government’s commitment to respecting, protecting, and safeguarding all investments made in the country. The President emphasized that maintaining trust and partnerships with investors, both domestic and foreign, is not merely a responsibility of the Government but also a matter of national honour for Indonesia.

“For this reason, I would like to reaffirm the commitment of the Indonesian Government to respect and safeguard all investments made in Indonesia, regardless of their origin. We are committed to maintaining our partnerships to the best of our ability. It is a matter of honour for the Indonesian nation to safeguard our partners,” the President said in his remarks at the inauguration of the commercial operation and groundbreaking of 11 projects within the nickel downstreaming ecosystem at Indonesia Weda Bay Industrial Park (IWIP), Central Halmahera regency, North Maluku province, Thursday (10/08).

On the occasion, he also expressed appreciation to all parties, both domestic and foreign, that have contributed to the development of downstream industries in Indonesia. According to him, trust and collaboration that have been established serve as an important foundation for building shared welfare and prosperity.

“As the President of the Republic of Indonesia, I would like to congratulate all parties and all elements, both from Indonesia and from abroad, our partners who have placed their trust in us to work together to build shared welfare and create shared prosperity,” the President said.

Furthermore, the President emphasized that Indonesia’s relations with its investment partners are built on trust, friendship, and a spirit of kinship. He mentioned that these values are deeply rooted in the traditions and culture of the Indonesian people, who have always respected those who come to cooperate with Indonesia.

“Those who trust Indonesia and those who have the courage to work together with Indonesia in new areas are regarded as our brothers and sisters. This is the tradition of the Indonesian people and part of our national customs,” the President said.

In his remarks, President Prabowo also highlighted that investment in the IWIP area continues to grow. Based on a report from Minister of Investment, realized investment in the industrial estate has exceeded US$20 billion, with an additional US$7 billion in investment planned for the future.

The development of the industrial estate has also contributed to job creation. He said that since the development of IWIP began, more than 100,000 workers have been employed. The achievement was among the points highlighted by the President in assessing the progress of the national industrial sector.

President Prabowo also expressed optimism about the future of Indonesia’s economy. According to him, the investment growth and industrial activities he witnessed firsthand at IWIP demonstrate significant opportunities for national economic growth amid various pessimistic views about Indonesia’s condition.

“Some people say that Indonesia is in darkness and that Indonesia will collapse. Every month, they predict that we will collapse. But today, I have come here and witness that Indonesia’s future is bright,” the President said.

He once again conveyed his gratitude to all partners that have placed their trust in Indonesia by investing in and developing industries in the country. The President expressed hope that the partnerships that have been established will continue to be strengthened and bring tangible benefits to the people and the countries involved.

“Once again, to our partners, friends, and brothers and sisters, thank you for your partnership and trust. May our partnership and friendship bring our two nations even closer, strengthen our ties, and bring greater benefits to our people,” the President remarked.
