President Prabowo Reaffirms Pancasila as Foundation for Just, Prosperous National Economic Development

President Prabowo Subianto leads the 2026 Pancasila Day Commemoration Ceremony held at the Pancasila Building, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Jakarta, on Monday (06/01).
President Prabowo Subianto emphasized that Pancasila must serve as the primary foundation for national economic development, oriented toward prosperity, equitable development, and social justice for all Indonesians. The President delivered this statement during his address at the 2026 Pancasila Day Commemoration Ceremony held at the Pancasila Building, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Jakarta, on Monday (06/01).
On the occasion, the Head of State explained that an economy grounded in Pancasila is one that is religious, humanitarian, and strengthens national unity. According to the President, one manifestation of this principle is the responsibility to manage natural resources for the prosperity of the people.
“We believe that natural resources are not merely economic commodities. They are mandate from God the Almighty that must be managed responsibly for the greatest prosperity of the people, as well as for our children and grandchildren. For the future, for the generations to come,” he explained.
Furthermore, the Head of State noted that an economy based on Pancasila is not solely oriented toward economic growth, but must also provide tangible benefits for all layers of society. Among these are efforts to fulfil proper nutrition needs of the people and to protect workers.
“Our children, especially those who are the weakest, the poorest, and the most vulnerable, must receive adequate nutrition. Our farmers must have access to fertilizer at the right time and at fair prices. Our fishers must have fair access to markets. They must be supported and empowered,” he asserted.
“Our workers must be provided with opportunities for a decent livelihoods and fair income. The welfare of our workers must be protected and supported,” he continued.
Moreover, the President stated that an economy based on Pancasila also prioritizes national and public interests. “Our economy must not solely benefit a select few. For too long, the prices of our natural resources have been determined by external parties. For too long, a significant portion of the profits from our natural resources has flowed abroad and failed to remain in the motherland,” he stressed.
To realize national economic sovereignty, the Government continues to strengthen natural resource governance through a single-window export policy, downstreaming, and stronger management of export proceeds.
“For that reason, the Government has established a one-door policy for natural resources exports. We must also undertake massive investments in industrialization driven through downstream developments. We must strengthen the management of foreign exchange from export proceeds and ensure that Indonesia’s wealth provides the greatest possible benefits to all Indonesians,” he concluded.
On the occasion of Pancasila Day, the President reaffirmed that Indonesia’s economic development must return to the ideals of the nation’s founding fathers, by delivering just and equitable prosperity for all the people. The Pancasila-based economy is the path toward an increasingly strong, independent, and prosperous Indonesia. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat) (YA/MMB)
