President Prabowo Receives Honorary Medal from US Special Operations Command at Merdeka Palace

President Prabowo Subianto, Monday (08/04), welcomed the Commander of the United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM), General Bryan Fenton at Merdeka Palace, Jakarta. On the occasion, General Fenton presented an honorary medal from USSOCOM to President Prabowo.

The honorary medal was conferred for President Prabowo’s advocacy for enhancing security measures, which has significantly contributed to the global fight against threats as well as support for stability and peace in the region.

During the meeting, General Fenton expressed appreciation for the strong relations between the militaries of Indonesia and the United States.

“I feel honored to visit Indonesia, representing 70,000 men and women at the U.S. Special Operations Command. We appreciate the close relations with the Indonesian military as a key partner to ensure stability in the region,” he said.

For the record, the USSOCOM medal is conferred on individuals, few of whom are non-Americans, for exemplary contributions to special operations. President Prabowo is the first Indonesian to ever receive this medal.

Also present at the meeting were Minister of Foreign Affairs Sugiono, Minister of Defense Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, Minister of State Secretariat Prasetyo Hadi, and Cabinet Secretariat Teddy Indra Wijaya. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat) (DH/TM)
