During his working visit to Singapore, President Prabowo Subianto Sunday (06/15) received a warm welcome from members of the Indonesian diaspora. The crowd included elementary and university students as well as the general public.

Upon his arrival at the hotel, President Prabowo was greeted by two Indonesian children dressed in traditional attire, who presented him with flowers. Several ministers of the Red and White Cabinet, who had arrived in Singapore earlier, were also present to welcome the President at the hotel lobby. Among them were Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto, Coordinating Minister for Community Empowerment Muhaimin Iskandar, Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian, Minister of Law and Human Rights Supratman Andi Agtas, Minister of Housing Maruarar Sirait, and Minister of Agriculture Andi Amran Sulaiman.

One of the most memorable moments of the evening was the enthusiastic greetings from Indonesian students, members of the Indonesian Student Association (PPI) in Singapore. They lined up along the hotel entrance to greet President Prabowo as his motorcade arrived.

“We were standing at the end of the line, and when the President rolled down his window, we could see him. We were so happy because we barely met him in Indonesia in person,” said Jocelyn, an Indonesian student in Singapore.

Jocelyn also expressed hopes for stronger ties between Indonesia and Singapore in the future. She and her fellow students fully supported President Prabowo’s programs.

“We want to show our enthusiasm and hope his programs will run smoothly. We are ready to support President Prabowo’s initiatives, especially those for Indonesian students,” she added.

Norbert, Shannon, and Kelvin, who also came to welcome the President, shared a similar sentiment.

“It was a surprise for us. The President asked what we were studying and our majors. We were happy and nervous—it was our first time meeting the President in person,” Norbert said on behalf of the group. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat) (GWH/MMB)
