President Prabowo Subianto received a warm welcome from Dutch and Indonesian officials upon arrival at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport, the Netherlands, at 08.45 local time on Thursday (09/25).

The officials greeting President Prabowo by the airstair were the Aide-de-Camp (ADC) to the King of the Netherlands, Lieutenant Colonel Joël Postma; the Head of Visits and Events of the Protocol and House Country Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Bob Aal; the Indonesian Ambassador to the Netherlands, Mayerfas; and the Defense Attaché at the Indonesian Embassy in The Hague, Colonel Rikrik Permadi Sobana.

The President was also greeted by a guard of honor, with two soldiers standing on either side of the airstair and eight others lined up next to the red carpet to pay respect and accompany him to his vehicle.

Afterward, President Prabowo headed to a Cadillac limousine provided by the Dutch Royal Family for state duties or official visits. The vehicle is usually kept at the Royal Stables at Noordeinde Palace in The Hague and only used for high-level events, which reflects the high respect the Kingdom of the Netherlands shows for the Indonesian President’s visit.

The President’s visit to the Netherlands marks an effort to strengthen bilateral relations, especially in strategic fields. He is slated to attend an official reception by King Willem-Alexander at Huis ten Bosch Palace. The meeting with the Dutch King is expected to strengthen the friendship between the two countries and create more opportunities for strategic partnerships.

For the record, the President took off from Ottawa Macdonald–Cartier International Airport, Canada, following a series of state agenda there. Joining him during his flight to Amsterdam was Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat) (DH/LW)
