President Prabowo: Science, Technology are Indonesia’s Key Path to Higher Civilization

President Prabowo Subianto, in his remarks on Tuesday (01/13) at the inauguration of the Branch Campus of Taruna Nusantara High School in Malang city, underscores that Indonesia’s future as a great nation is highly determined by its students’ ability to master science and technology.
President Prabowo Subianto emphasized that Indonesia’s future as a great nation depends on its people’s ability to master science and technology. According to the President, only countries that excel in science and technology are able to achieve high levels of civilization and ensure prosperity for their people.
“In such a manner, we can provide prosperity to the Indonesian people. We can improve the life quality of all Indonesians and safeguard them from poverty and starvation,” said the Head of State in his remarks at the inauguration of the Branch Campus of Taruna Nusantara High School (SMA Taruna Nusantara) in Malang city, Tuesday (01/13).
The President believed that the presence of top-quality educational institutions, such as SMA Taruna Nusantara, stood as a strategic platform to support the advancement of the nation’s children. From his observations of developed and rapidly developing countries, he revealed that their success is basically supported by a broad network of top-quality schools.
“From our observations, each of the rapidly developing and developed countries has more than 100 such [top-quality] schools nationwide,” said the President.
Through the establishment of SMA Taruna Nusantara, the Government is committed to achieve excellence in science and technology. Therefore, after its initial establishment in Magelang city in the early 1990s, the school has expanded with branch campuses in Malang city and Cimahi city, as well as other areas.
“We are currently building [the top-quality schools] in Nusantara Capital City Area, Kalimantan, in Minahasa city, North Sulawesi province, as well as in Pagar Alam city, South Sumatra province. We aim for these branch campuses to start operating by the end of December 2026,” he stated.
Furthermore, the Head of State outlined the Government’s plans to expand access to top-quality education services in the country through Garuda High School program, aiming to establish top-quality schools in every province.
“My plan is also to establish integrated top-quality schools in every regency. We hope to build 500 of these [top-quality schools] within the next four years,” he concluded. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat) (NST/TM)
