President Prabowo Subianto Wednesday (12/17) arrived at Minangkabau international airport in Padang Pariaman regency, West Sumatra province.

Upon arrival in the regency at 6:30 PM Western Indonesian Time, the Head of State was scheduled to inspect several locations affected by the flood and ensure the acceleration of infrastructure recovery efforts.

The President has previously emphasized that this disaster should be met with heightened vigilance, given the challenges posed by climate change and the increasingly erratic weather patterns, and has stressed that the current situation must be addressed through collective action.

“We pray that our brothers and sisters will recover soon, and we are working hard to restore the conditions so that reconstruction and rehabilitation can begin immediately,” the President said in his opening remarks at the Plenary Cabinet Meeting, Monday (12/15).

The visit to the flood-affected areas underscores the Government’s commitment to maintaining a direct presence among displaced residents and to ensuring that emergency response and post-disaster recovery efforts proceed swiftly and sustainably.

For the record, the President departed from Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base in East Jakarta at 5:00 PM Western Indonesian Time.

Also joining the Head of State on the flight to West Sumatra were State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat) (GWH/EP)
