President Prabowo Subianto on Tuesday (05/27) attended the 16th Brunei Darussalam-Indonesia-Malaysia-Philippines East ASEAN Growth Area (BIMP-EAGA) Summit at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC), Malaysia.
The meeting was chaired by Philippine President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., who delivered the opening remarks on that occasion.
President Marcos extended a warm welcome to heads of state participating in the event. He stated that the Summit holds special significance as it coincides with eight years of implementation since the adoption of the BIMP-EAGA Vision 2025.
“It is a great honor for me to welcome you to the 16th BIMP-EAGA Summit,” he said.
President Marcos highlighted various achievements made since 2017, which have brought tangible benefits to the people. The BIMP-EAGA has laid a stronger foundation for inclusive and sustainable growth, driven by innovation.
“Our joint initiatives in connectivity, trade and investment, food and energy security, ecotourism, and green development have progressed significantly. This reinforces our commitment to narrowing development gaps in our subregion,” President Marcos stated.
On that occasion, President Marcos also invited the leaders to seize this moment to reaffirm their shared vision for a more integrated, resilient, and prosperous BIMP-EAGA. He stressed that the future would require synergy, innovation, and greater political will.
“I believe that through this cooperation, we will turn our shared aspirations into lasting impact for our people,” he asserted.
