President Prabowo Subianto on Friday (06/06) attended Eid al-Adha 1446 Hijri prayer at Istiqlal Mosque, Jakarta.
The President arrived at the mosque around 6:35 a.m. Western Indonesia Time and was welcomed by Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Pratikno, Acting Minister of Religious Affairs Prof. Sahiron, and Acting Grand Imam of Istiqlal Mosque Dr. Mulawarman.
The Eid prayer began at 7:00 a.m. Western Indonesia Time, led by Imam H. Mutakhir Abdurahman, Lc., MA., followed with the sermon delivered by Prof. H. Wan Jamaluddin Z, M.Ag., Ph.D., with the theme “Spreading Love Through the Sacrifice Ritual.”
In his sermon, Prof. Wan Jamaluddin emphasized the importance of the qurban as a symbol of sincerity, social justice, and compassion. He stated that qurban is not merely the act of sacrificing animals, but a spiritual and social expression of love—love for God through obedience, and love for fellow human beings through sharing.
Prof. Wan Jamaluddin said that Eid al-Adha is a moment to strengthen unity and solidarity in support of family resilience, national resilience, and global peace. He called on the public to reignite the spirit of sacrifice and compassion demonstrated by Prophet Ibrahim and his family, stressing that this annual ritual should serve as a reminder that building a nation requires sincerity, cooperation, and sacrifice from everyone.
A solemn atmosphere surrounded the mosque attended by thousands of worshippers. President Prabowo solemnly participated in the entire prayer.
