President Prabowo Subianto Saturday (09/12) stated that BRICS plays a crucial role in strengthening collective capacity to contribute to global resilience.

The President made the statement during a limited session on ‘Inclusive Global Governance and Strengthening Multilateralism’ at the 2026 BRICS Summit at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi, India.

“BRICS represents half of humanity and a significant share of the global economy and trade. It brings together the world’s largest markets and major energy producers. This gives us enormous collective strength,” he stated.

The President also emphasized that BRICS’s collective strength is a crucial asset for strengthening global governance, ensuring food and energy security, and creating greater development opportunities for developing countries.

He also expressed confidence that mobilizing resources for infrastructure and economic development could strengthen the Global South’s ability to finance its own future.

“BRICS has a role to play by strengthening its own capacity to contribute to global resilience. By mobilizing resources for infrastructure and development, we can strengthen the capacity of the Global South to finance its own future,” he added.

The Head of State further stated that this collective strength can be optimized through better connectivity between the markets, capital, resources, technology, and knowledge of BRICS countries.

He stated that this connectivity can create greater opportunities for developing countries while strengthening the voice of the Global South in shaping institutions that govern the world, promote peace, and advance justice.

“Imagine what BRICS could achieve if our collective strength was fully mobilized to help secure food and energy supplies. Imagine if our markets, capital, resources, technology, and knowledge were better connected, creating greater opportunities for developing countries,” the President added in his statement.

Furthermore, President Prabowo Subianto also emphasized the importance of building a stronger multilateral system capable of supporting the needs and interests of all nations, regardless of their size or power.

In this context, he noted that the United Nations (UN) must remain at the center of the multilateral system. However, he emphasized that it must reform to become more representative, responsive, and capable of delivering tangible results for the global community.

“The UN must be more representative, more responsive, and more capable of delivering tangible results for our people. At the same time, our international financial institutions must also evolve. Trade and currency must not be weaponized,” he concluded.

By strengthening BRICS and reforming global governance, President Prabowo Subianto is advocating for a fairer and more equitable international order, which not only recognizes the strength of the Global South but also gives all nations the space to determine and finance their own futures.
