President Prabowo Subianto Concludes State Visit to Brunei, Strengthens Bilateral Ties

After conducting a state visit to Brunei Darussalam, Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto returned to Indonesia on Wednesday (5/14). The Head of State along with a limited entourage took off from Brunei International Airport at around 02.40 p.m. local time.

Brunei Darussalam’s Officials saw off President Prabowo during his departure including Minister of Home Affairs Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Ahmaddin bin Haji Abdul Rahman, Minister of Foreign Affairs II Dato Seri Setia Haji Erywan bin Pehin Datu Pekerma Jaya Haji Mohd Yusof, Minister of Development Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Muhammad Juanda bin Haji Abdul Rashid, Government of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Muhammad Haszaimi bin Bol Hassan, Acting Commissioner of the Royal Police of Brunei Dato Seri Pahlawan Sulaiman bin Alidin, and the Brunei Darussalam’s Ambassador to Indonesia Brigadier General (Ret.) Dato Seri Pahlawan Haji Abdul Razak bin Haji Abdul Kadir.

Meanwhile, there were also representatives from Indonesia, namely the Indonesian Ambassador to Brunei Darussalam Achmad Ubaedillah and the Defense Attache of the Indonesian Embassy in Bandar Seri Begawan Colonel Inf. Gamma Arthadilla Sakti.

During his stay in Brunei Darussalam, President Prabowo Subianto was welcomed with a state ceremony at the Nurul Iman Palace and held a bilateral meeting with Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah. He also received the Award of the Star of Greatness of the State of Darussalam “Darjah Kerabat Laila Utama Yang Amat Dihormati”.

“On ​​behalf of myself and on behalf of the President of the Republic of Indonesia, I would like to express my highest gratitude and appreciation for the extraordinary reception given to us today during my state visit as President of the Republic of Indonesia,” President Prabowo said in his remarks during a luncheon at the Nurul Iman Palace.

This state visit marks an important momentum to strengthen bilateral relations between Indonesia and Brunei Darussalam which have existed for decades.  The meeting between President Prabowo and Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah also opens up opportunities for broader cooperation in various fields.
