President Prabowo Subianto Wednesday (09/24) continued his overseas working visit to the Canadian capital of Ottawa, taking off from New York, the United States at 12.20 local time after concluding his agenda there.
Before his departure, Indonesian Ambassador-designate to the United States Dwisuryo Indroyono Soesilo and Land Attaché at the Indonesian Embassy in Washington D.C., Colonel F.A. Tri Arto Subagio, bid farewell to the President.
Joining the President in his flight to Ottawa were Minister of Investment and Downstreaming Rosan Perkasa Roeslani and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya.
During his stay in New York, the President attended the United Nations (UN) General Assembly’s General Debate of the 80th Session. There, he delivered his first address at the forum, which was highly appreciated by world leaders.
“This is an honor for me. I was able to deliver a speech in a very honorable order. Brazil has always been the first, followed by the United States. After that, it was Indonesia’s turn, showing a lot of respect for Indonesia,” he said in his press statement.
The Head of State also underscored that the UN’s platform was used to assert Indonesia’s consistent stance in promoting world peace.
“Alhamdulillah, I used the stage to convey our standpoint, Indonesia’s perspective, particularly to promote conflict resolution worldwide. Our utmost concern is certainly the suffering of the people of Gaza,” he said.
According to the President, many countries responded positively to Indonesia’s firm yet balanced stance, as the leaders at the forum saw it as realistic.
In New York, President Prabowo also attended the High-Level International Conference for the Peaceful Settlement of the Question of Palestine and the Implementation of the Two-State Solution at the UN General Assembly and the Multilateral Meeting on the Middle East upon an invitation from American President Donald Trump.
In addition to these meetings, the President also had a bilateral meeting with UN Secretary General António Guterres and also met with global philanthropist and Gates Foundation founder Bill Gates to present him with an honorary award for his extraordinary dedication to the welfare of humanity.
