President Prabowo Subianto inaugurated, in a hybrid format, the construction and operation of renewable energy projects across fifteen provinces, the increase of oil production by 30,000 barrels from the Cepu Oil Block, and the groundbreaking of five geothermal power plants on Thursday (06/26).

Due to bad weather conditions, President Prabowo extended apologies for attending the event via video conference from his hotel in Bali province during a working visit.

“I sincerely apologize for not being able to attend in person due to weather uncertainties. I was prepared to depart at 8 a.m., but as the weather worsened, I had no choice but to participate via video conference,” President Prabowo said.

President Prabowo also expressed regret for not being able to witness firsthand these strategic projects, which are considered very important and impressive for the Indonesian nation.
“Once again, I apologize. I really wish to attend the event in person. I will find time to visit and inspect these projects, which are so important, so historical, and so prideful for us as a nation and as individuals,” the President added.

For the record, Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya played an important role in the decision to change the event format to a video conference. He actively coordinated with protocol, security, and technical teams to ensure the smooth running of the event.

In the meantime, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Bahlil Lahadalia, who attended in person at the Blawan Ijen Geothermal Power Plant in Bondowoso regency, East Java province, said that President Prabowo was initially scheduled to attend the event physically. However, thick fog disrupted the flight, and they had to change the plan.

Although held virtually, this inauguration remains a significant milestone in Indonesia’s energy transition agenda, which aims to develop cleaner and more sustainable energy sources. (BPMI) (EST/MMB)
