President Prabowo Subianto Wednesday (06/24) inspected the Advanced Agricultural System Rice Cultivation technology (PM-AAS) and the Technology Exhibition area showcasing innovations in agriculture, fisheries, livestock, plantations, and supporting technologies for food self-sufficiency at the 17th National Week of Farmers and Fishermen 2026 at the Limboto Sports Center, Gorontalo regency, Gorontalo province.

During the visit, the President observed the application of modern agricultural approaches in rice cultivation focused on boosting productivity, improving efficiency, and strengthening national food security. The PM-AAS technology was presented as a key innovation to transform the agricultural sector through greater use of technology and mechanization.

“I think there are many innovations, new technologies and techniques developed by the agricultural community under the leadership of the Minister of Agriculture, and the results are, in my view, quite revolutionary. Where previously yields were five tonnes of unhusked rice, now they can exceed ten to twelve tonnes. That doubles our productivity,” the President said after the inspection.

President Prabowo also expressed optimism that Indonesia is on the right path to bolster national food security and to move toward becoming the largest rice producer across the globe.

“We can help many countries. Nevertheless, we must be grateful and maintain what we are doing. This must not be a one- or two-year phenomenon; it must become a sustainable system. Our farmers must live well, and we must learn the technology as quickly as possible,” he added.

President Prabowo further emphasized the importance of strengthening the entire food production chain through strategies of intensification, extensification, and downstream processing to improve the quality and diversity of national agricultural output.

“So that what we produce later will be of very high quality. Not only rice and corn, but also cassava, sugar, soybeans, sorghum, and sago.. These are all gifts from the God Almighty. We have sufficient land; our soil is good; irrigation can be improved. We are also grateful that we already have the technology,” the Head of State said.

The President reiterated his optimism about the national agricultural sector’s development, saying it is increasingly robust and forms a crucial foundation for national resilience.

“I am very pleased and optimistic to see this development. All great, strong countries have strong agricultural foundations. If our food production is secure, then we will be secure in facing many challenges,” he stated.

On the equitable dissemination of agricultural technology, President Prabowo stressed that existing innovations will be continuously promoted and implemented nationwide.

“We want this to be disseminated and taught to all regions. We want each village, sub-district, and district to be self-sufficient, so the regencies and provinces can achieve self-sufficient. If possible, provinces should also produce for export. This is our strategy going forward,” the President remarked. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat) (GWH/AW)
