President Prabowo Subianto on Monday (02/10) officially opened the 18th Congress of Muslimat Nahdlatul Ulama (the women’s wing of Indonesia’s largest Muslim organization) at the Jatim International Expo (JIExpo), Surabaya, East Java province.
During the event, President Prabowo expressed his appreciation for three new programs initiated by Muslimat NU in addressing environmental, poverty, and health issues, namely Mustika Darling (Beautiful, Strong, Independent, Powerful Muslimat with Environmental Awareness), Mustika Mesem (Beautiful, Strong, Independent, Powerful Muslimat Committed to Eradicating Extreme Poverty), and Mustika Segar (Beautiful, Strong, Independent, Powerful, Healthy, and Fit Muslimat).
“I am very impressed with the programs of Muslimat NU and its Chairperson. Mustika Darling is particularly important. As Bu Khofifah has rightly pointed out, we must raise our environmental awareness,” the President said.
President Prabowo also praised Muslimat NU’s commitment to alleviating extreme poverty. He emphasized that the program Mustika Mesem carries a noble goal that should be pursued collectively for the well-being of the people.
The President also said that Muslimat NU’s commitment to the program aligns with the Government’s agenda.
On that occasion, President Prabowo further said that Indonesia is a nation rich in resources. He also reminded everyone of the need for self-reflection to ensure the country’s progress.
“I always say that we must have the courage to introspect, to be self-aware, and to uphold the truth. I always encourage goodness and seek harmony in my approach,” he stated.
The President expressed hope that the 18th Congress of Muslimat NU would result in strategic decisions that strengthen the organization’s role in nation-building.
“Keep striving, Muslimat NU. Keep striving, NU,” the President remarked.
