President Prabowo Subianto and President of the French Republic, Emmanuel Macron, on Thursday (05/29) attended a luncheon in the Husein Dining Hall at the Military Academy in Magelang, Central Java.

The two heads of state arrived at the dining hall to a warm welcome from the cadets who had been waiting for them. The event began with an official report from the Commander of the Cadet Corps Regiment, followed by a series of military traditions.

President Prabowo rang a bell to mark the beginning of the luncheon. The resonant chime echoing through the historic dining hall signaled the start of an important moment—not just to enjoy a meal, but to foster a spirit of togetherness and international partnership.

The participants recited a prayer before the meal, creating a solemn atmosphere amid the warm, familial setting. President Macron appeared to enjoy the simple and friendly atmosphere, with cadets seated alongside the Presidents, sharing the meal.

Afterward, President Prabowo rang the bell once again, this time to mark the end of the luncheon. A closing prayer was recited, wrapping up the event with a sense of gratitude and respect.

The Commander of the Cadet Corps Regiment then delivered a closing report, marking the conclusion of one of the key events during a series of President Macron’s visits to Indonesia.

The cadets who took part in the event expressed pride and excitement at getting involved in this state visit.

“As a military academy cadet, I’m very happy to be visited by the President of another country. It’s a great honor for me and my fellow cadets to have another country’s President visit our academy,” Gardan, a cadet at the Military Academy, said.

Laksita, a female cadet, also expressed her pride in attending the luncheon with President Prabowo and President Macron. She expressed hope that the visit will strengthen cooperation between the two nations.

The ceremony was more than just a military formality—it conveyed a powerful message: that diplomacy is not only conducted in meeting rooms, but also at the dining table—a space where values of equality, mutual trust, and partnership can flourish more closely and meaningfully.
