President Prabowo Subianto Projects Optimism for Indonesian Economy in Global Forum Address

President Prabowo Subianto has highlighted Indonesia’s economic achievements and prospects in his address at the plenary session of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) at the ExpoForum Convention and Exhibition Center in St. Petersburg, Russia, Friday (6/20).
Speaking before global leaders and key players in the world economy, the President expressed optimism that Indonesia’s economy is on a promising and positive trajectory.
“Indonesian economic experts told me that in this first semester, our economic growth is over 5%. They also predicted that by the end of this year, the growth could reach 7% or even higher,” President Prabowo said, adding that this achievement reflects the success of the Government in taking direction of the economic policy.
With this foundation, the President expressed belief that big targets will be achieved soon.
“This shows that we have chosen the right path and we are achieving our goals,” the President added.
The Head of State also stated that Indonesia not only targets self-sufficiency, but will also become a net food exporter for key commodities such as rice and corn in the next few years.
“We will become a net exporter of rice and corn in a few years,” he said.
On that occasion, President Prabowo Subianto also introduced the Daya Anagata Nusantara Investment Management Agency (BPI Danantara), which was established as a long-term prosperity legacy for future generations.
“We established a sovereign wealth fund called Danantara, which means the energy for Indonesia’s future. This fund aims to protect the wealth of our children and grandchildren. It currently has US$1,000 billion worth of assets under its management,” President Prabowo said.
The President further said that Indonesia is open for doing business with anyone, adding that good relations with Russian corporations have been established for a long time.
