President Prabowo Subianto: Regional Leaders Inauguration Historic Moment in Indonesia’s Democracy

President Prabowo Subianto Thursday (02/20) at the Presidential Palace, Jakarta, inaugurated 961 regional leaders from across Indonesia.

In his remarks, the President stated that the inauguration marked a historic moment in the country’s democracy.

“I believe this is a historic moment—the first of its kind in our country. Today, we are inaugurating 33 Governors, 33 Vice Governors, 363 Regents, 362 Vice Regents, 85 Mayors, and 85 Vice Mayors. In total, 961 regional heads from 481 regions are being inaugurated simultaneously at the Merdeka Palace by the Head of State,” the President said.

The inauguration was proof that Indonesia is a great nation with a thriving democracy, he added.

The Head of State also reminded the regional leaders of their duties and responsibilities as public servants to defend the interests of the people and strive to improve the people’s lives.

“We may hail from different political parties, religions, and ethnic backgrounds, but we all part of the family of Nusantara, the family of the Republic of Indonesia, the family of the Red and White, the family of Bhinneka Tunggal Ika,” the President stated, adding that all regional leaders will gather again for a retreat organized by Minister of Home Affairs in Magelang, Central Java in the near future.  (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat/ABD) (RI/EP)
