President Prabowo Subianto Monday (11/02) chaired a limited cabinet meeting with several members of the Red and White Cabinet at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta.

Speaking at a press briefing after the meeting, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto said several national economic indicators had shown improvement.

“Indonesia’s manufacturing Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) rose to 54 from 52.4 last month, indicating stronger expansion in the sector. This is its highest since March 2024, reflecting strong manufacturing growth,” the Minister stated.

On trade, Airlangga noted that Indonesia recorded a trade surplus of US$3.36 billion in September 2026, as a non-oil and gas trade surplus of US$5.67 billion more than offset an oil and gas trade deficit of US$2.31 billion. Cumulatively, Indonesia’s trade surplus reached US$10.61 billion in January–September 2026.

“Indonesia’s trade surplus reached US$10.61 billion in January–September 2026, as a non-oil and gas surplus of US$34.21 billion more than offset an oil and gas deficit of US$23.6 billion,” Airlangga added.

The Minister also highlighted growth in Indonesia’s exports.

“Total exports rose by 5.58 percent year-on-year to USD$221.23 billion in January-September this year, with non-oil and gas exports accounting for US$212.27 billion,” Airlangga explained.

On price stability, the Minister stated Indonesia’s inflation rate stood at 3.23 percent year-on-year and 0.22 percent month-on-month in October 2026, while year-to-date inflation reached 2.4 percent.

“Year-to-date inflation stands at 2.4 percent, well within the target range of 2.5 percent plus or minus 1 percentage point. Inflation was driven primarily by volatile food prices, including food and beverages, bird’s eye chili, and fresh fish, as well as It transportation costs, including airfares. However, discount programs ahead of the Christmas and New Year holidays will help offset these increases,” Airlangga explained.

The Minister emphasized that these initiatives reflected the Government’s ongoing commitment to maintaining public purchasing power and ensuring economic activity.

“This shows that Indonesia’s economic fundamentals remain strong, and we expect this stability to continue through the end of the year,” Airlangga concluded. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat) (YA/MEP)
