President Prabowo Subianto Reviews Quick Win Health Programs Reaching Tens of Millions

President Prabowo Subianto welcomes Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, Tuesday (06/09).
Minister of Health Tuesday (06/09) reported to President Prabowo Subianto on the tangible outcomes of the Quick Win Program (PHTC), as well as other flagship health initiatives that are now accessible to the public.
In a statement issued on Wednesday (06/10), Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya stated, based on the report delivered by the Minister, the first PHTC initiative, the Free Health Check (CKG) program, was carried out for more than 70 million people in 2025.
In 2026, the program has so far reached over 42.3 million participants in across 38 provinces nationwide.
“In addition to early detection, starting this year the CKG program also prioritizes treatment and recovery, with community health centers (puskesmas) staff providing free medication and ongoing monitoring to people with hypertension and diabetes,” said Teddy.
The Cabinet Secretary noted that the second PHTC covers tuberculosis (TBC) control, adding that since its launch last year, this program has successfully reduced the estimated number of TBC cases this year to 1.08 million, down from 10.9 million, driven by increasingly aggressive case detection in the community.
“The more cases we detect, the easier and faster they are to treat. This year, innovations in TBC control, include integrating detection with the CKG program and implementing a one-stop service (OSS), under which screening, diagnosis, and treatment for TBC are all carried out at a single puskesmas on the same day,” he added.
The Cabinet Secretary also explained that the third PHTC program focuses on improving service quality at 66 regional public hospital in underdeveloped, outermost, and remote areas, as well as at regional public hospitals being upgraded from Class D to Class C to provide more comprehensive services.
He also noted that by 2025, construction had been completed at 20 of the 22 targeted regional public hospitals, with 10 of them already been operational.
“In 2026, construction has begun on 14 of the 20 regional public hospitals, while 24 additional regional hospitals remain in the planning stage for 2027,” Teddy added.
In addition to the PHTC, Teddy added, Minister of Health also reported on other flagship programs, including the distribution of 905 primary healthcare devices to 258 regencies and cities.
“The primary equipment consists of Catheterization Laboratory (CathLab), CT scanner, mammography, MRI, and Linac,” he said.
The Cabinet Secretary also said that the Minister also reported on the completion of the construction of the Central General Hospital in Jayapura city in Papua province, which is now ready to be inaugurated by President Prabowo Subianto.
The hospital is expected to function not only as a referral hub for eastern Indonesia, but also for the wider Pacific and Oceania regions.
Minister of Health Budi also reported on the progress of the construction of the Central General Hospital in Riau, which has reached 85 percent completion and is targeted for inauguration in December this year.
This hospital is expected to reduce the need for residents in Riau and the surrounding areas to seek medical treatment abroad.
“For future plans, the Minister also reported efforts to revitalize regional public hospitals in 514 regencies and cities, including improvements to their management, as well as a revitalization program for 10,000 community health centers (puskesmas), auxiliary community health centers (puskesmas pembantu), and public health laboratories in all districts and villages,” Teddy concluded.
This initiative forms part of President Prabowo Subianto’s commitment to building a stronger, more equitable, modern, and accessible national healthcare system for all Indonesians. It is designed to ensure that quality healthcare services are available not only in major cities but also in Indonesia’s remote regions. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat) (JAS/EP)
