President Prabowo Subianto conveys his profound condolences on the passing away of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in a letter handed over by Minister for Foreign Affairs Sugiono to the Ambassador of Iran to Indonesia, H.E. Mohammad Boroujerdi in Jakarta.

President Prabowo Subianto expressed his profound condolences on the passing away of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who fatally fell victim to military airstrikes on February 28, 2026. This statement was conveyed by Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya by means of a written release issued in Jakarta on Wednesday (03/04).

“President Prabowo Subianto has written a letter of condolence on the passing away of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who fatally fell victim to military airstrikes on February 28, 2026,” Cabinet Secretary stated.

The Cabinet Secretary explained that the letter of condolence was addressed to the President of Iran, H.E. Masoud Pezeshkian. The letter expressed Indonesia’s sympathy and respect for the passing away of Iran’s Supreme Leader.

“The official letter expressing profound condolences over the passing away of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was addressed to President Masoud Pezeshkian,” the Cabinet Secretary added.

The official letter from President Prabowo was handed over personally by Minister for Foreign Affairs Sugiono to the Ambassador of Iran to Indonesia, H.E. Mohammad Boroujerdi, in Jakarta as a manifestation of the high diplomatic esteem held by the Government of Indonesia.

The handing over of the condolence letter took place preceding the funeral procession for Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, which is scheduled to be held in the city of Mashhad, one of Iran’s holy cities and the country’s second-largest city.

Through this official letter, the Government of Indonesia expressed its inestimable sympathy to the Government and people of Iran over the loss of such a prominent figure who had contributed considerably to the political trajectory and social life of the Iranian people. At the same time, the letter reaffirmed Indonesia’s commitment to continue fostering friendly relations and constructive cooperation between the two countries.
