President Prabowo Subianto Visits Flood-Hit Aceh for Second Time to Oversee Relief Efforts

President Prabowo Subianto Sunday (12/07) headed to flood-hit Aceh province to oversee disaster response efforts in several areas of the province for the second time.

Departing from Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base in East Jakarta, the President took off for Sultan Iskandar Muda International Airport in Aceh Besar regency around 07:55 Western Indonesian Time.​

Upon arrival in the province, the Head of State is scheduled to inspect areas with significant damage and impacts from flooding, while receiving the latest reports from regional government and relevant agencies. This visit aims to ensure accelerated emergency response and recovery in affected areas.​

The President is also set to monitor aid distribution, resident evacuation processes, and road access restoration measures.

The Government has announced that flood handling in Aceh province is a national priority, with all resources mobilized to speed up community recovery.​

Previously on Friday (12/5), the President said that the disasters which striking various regions as challenges for the nation. He also affirmed that amid difficult times and disasters, Indonesia still demonstrates resilience as a great and strong nation, capable of enduring, rising, and overcoming every test collectively.​

“We are proving to the people that the Government’s response is swift and addresses problems effectively. We have shown that when a disaster hits part of our homeland, state apparatus responds immediately,” the President said.​

The President’s presence on-site is expected to strengthen field coordination and ensure all response efforts handled effectively, rapidly, and well coordinated.

The Government also continues working to safeguard the people and accelerate recovery of critical infrastructure in affected areas. (BPMI) (EST/EP)
