A solemn and respectful atmosphere filled the Planalto Palace in Brasília as President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto conducted a state visit to Brazil Wednesday (07/09).
During the official state welcoming ceremony, President Prabowo Subianto was formally received by Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and First Lady Rosangela Lula da Silva.
Marking the start of the ceremony at the Planalto Palace, the President’s motorcade was greeted by 114 horse-mounted troops of the Brazilian military, dressed in their iconic ceremonial uniforms.
The motorcade then slowly proceeded to the drop-off point. The ceremony continued with President Prabowo Subianto inspecting the Brazilian military honor guard.
With firm and dignified steps, the President inspected the troops until he reached the pathway leading to the palace’s main entrance.
Following the inspection, President Prabowo Subianto walked to the main entrance of the Planalto Palace, where President Lula da Silva and First Lady Rosangela Lula da Silva waited for him.
After a warm handshake and hug, the two leaders stood side by side to pay their respects as Indonesia’s national flag was raised, accompanied by the singing of Indonesian national anthem, Indonesia Raya, followed by the Brazilian national anthem, with the Brazilian flag already raised earlier in the palace courtyard.
The two Heads of State were seen holding hands and engaging in a warm conversation as they walked to the designated photo session area. After the photos were taken, the two leaders introduced the members of their respective delegations.
Accompanying President Prabowo from Indonesia were Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs Zulkifli Hasan, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia, Minister of Trade Budi Santoso; Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology Brian Yuliarto; Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Arrmanatha Nasir, and Indonesian Ambassador to Brazil Edi Yusup.
Following the introductions, President Prabowo Subianto and his Brazilian counterpart proceeded to the main balcony of the Planalto Palace to receive honors from Brazil’s military honor guard parade.
After witnessing the parade, the two leaders held a bilateral meeting alongside their delegations to discuss Indonesia–Brazil relations and explore various strategic cooperation opportunities.
Concluding the state visit, President Lula hosted a state luncheon for President Prabowo Subianto and his delegation at the Itamaraty Complex of Brazil’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. (Bureau of Press, Media, and Information of the Presidential Secretariat) (TCUD/EP)
