President Prabowo Summons Several Ministers to Discuss Forest Area Regulation, Illegal Mining

President Prabowo Subianto, on Sunday (11/23), summoned several members of the Red and White Cabinet to his private residence in Hambalang, Bogor. The meeting, which took place over the weekend, lasted from afternoon until evening and discussed strategic issues in the forestry and mining sectors.

In a written statement, Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya said that the meeting discussed the work results and follow-up plans of the Forest Area Regulation Task Force, mining areas regulation, and legal consequences of various violations and illegal activities in both sectors.

The meeting also discussed the handling of several illegal areas that have been difficult for authorities to reach.

Cabinet Secretary Teddy said that President Prabowo reiterated the Government’s commitment to carrying out the constitutional mandate. “President Prabowo reaffirmed his commitment to implementing Article 33 of the 1945 Constitution, which states that ‘The land, water, and natural resources contained therein shall be controlled by the state and used for the greatest prosperity of the people,'” Cabinet Secretary Teddy wrote.

Attending the meeting were Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Bahlil Lahadalia, Minister of Law Supratman Andi Agtas, Minister of Defense Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, Attorney General ST. Burhanuddin, National Police Chief General Pol. Listyo Sigit Prabowo, Indonesian National Defense Forces (TNI) Commander General Agus Subiyanto, Head of the Financial and Development Supervisory Agency (BPKP) Muhammad Yusuf Ateh, and Head of the Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (PPATK) Ivan Yustiavandana.  (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat) (JAS/MMB)
