President Prabowo to Discuss National Direction, World Peace with Islamic Leaders

President Prabowo Subianto is slated to receive prominent figures and leaders of Islamic organizations and Islamic boarding schools at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, on Tuesday (02/03).

According to Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, the meeting is held on a regular basis once every three or four months.

“Today, the President will meet with a number of prominent figures from Islamic organizations, Islamic leaders, and also with the leaders of Islamic boarding schools from various regions. They will have a discussion,” he told the media at the Presidential Palace, Jakarta, Tuesday (02/03).

Teddy went on to say that the meeting serves as a friendly platform for the President and Islamic figures to have amicable conversation and strategic discussion on the Government’s achievements, progress, strategic programs, and the latest developments in home and international affairs.

The Cabinet Secretary added that figures invited to the meeting come from various organizations, including the Executive Board of Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU), the nation’s largest Islamic organization, Muhammadiyah, the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI), Persatuan Islam (Persis) Muslim group, Sarekat Islam, as well as leaders of Islamic boarding schools, especially from East Java and other regions.

“There will be 40 to 50 figures who will attend the meeting,” he said adding that the issue of the Board of Peace will also be discussed in that meeting. (BPMI Presidential Secretariat) (RAS/TM)
