President Prabowo Underscores Gov’t Commitment to Modernize National Healthcare Services

President Prabowo Subianto officially inaugurated the K.H. Muhammad Thohir Krui Regional General Hospital in Pesisir Barat regency, Lampung province, on Wednesday (06/10).
In his remarks, the President highlighted that strengthening the health sector forms part of the Government’s efforts to build a strong national economy and improve the quality of public services.
“We want to build a sound and strong economy. We want to manage our natural resources and our wealth so that we can provide even better services to the people,” the President said.
President Prabowo also emphasized the importance of making healthcare services easily accessible to the public, particularly in the regions. The President stated that the Government has prepared programs to construct and renovate hospitals in various regencies across Indonesia.
“The Government will continue to improve healthcare services. I have made plans with Minister of Health, and the administration for the next three years. We will build new hospitals where necessary, and where possible, repair and renovate between 350 and 400 hospitals across all regencies in Indonesia,” he said.
In addition to hospitals, President Prabowo further stated that the Government is also working to strengthen primary healthcare services by modernizing community health centers. The President explained that the national healthcare modernization program has begun with the distribution of modern medical equipment across various regions.
“We have now distributed nearly 1,000 units of modern medical equipment. We have started the distribution to all regional hospitals in 514 regencies and cities. Earlier, it was reported, for example, that this hospital has already received the modern equipment, and we will continue to improve this,” he said.
On the occasion, the President also outlined the progress made by the Government in the construction of regional hospitals. These efforts will continue as part of the national health infrastructure strengthening program.
“We have built 22 regional general hospitals by 2025, and in 2026, we will build another 22. And, I can say that we will build and modernize 350 hospitals over the next three years. Thank God, the first 20 hospitals have been completed and have begun serving the public,” he said.
In addition, the President also underscored the importance of clean governance in healthcare services and the Government’s commitment to providing affordable medicines for the public.
“I order that there must be no embezzlement, no corruption in serving the people. We will strive to provide medicines to the people at the lowest possible prices. I hope that within this year we will be able to provide generic medicines at affordable prices to the people,” he added.
The inauguration of the hospital is not merely a symbol of a new healthcare facility in Pesisir Barat regency. This milestone underscores President Prabowo’s policy direction to accelerate national healthcare transformation, ensuring modern healthcare services reach every corner of Indonesia and delivering increasingly high-quality, affordable, and equitable care for all the people of Indonesia.
