President Prabowo Visits and Helps Flood-affected People in Padang Pariaman Regency

President Prabowo Subianto emphasized that his visit to Padang Pariaman regency is to inspect the condition of the people affected by flood and listened to their aspirations. In addition, the Head of State also received a complete report from the regional governments, and ensured the aid is optimally-distributed.

“Alhamdulillah, the weather is getting better, alhamdulillah, supports and assistance have arrived,” President Prabowo said before the evacuees in the shelter in Padang Pariaman regency, West Sumatra province, Monday (12/1).

To the evacuees, President Prabowo explained the updates on basic services that started to be restored in the emergency response status. The Head of State mentioned that electricity recovery has been one of the priorities together with clean water supply, damaged bridges data gathering.

“We are collecting data on damaged bridges, insya Allah we will restore them all. We wil help damaged houses hit by the flood,” he said.

Additionally, President Prabowo mentioned that the disaster handling also works parallelly in many flood-hit areas in Sumatra island, including in Aceh and North Sumatra provinces. “So, I have just visited in North Sumatra province, some regencies are in hard condition and cannot be accessible through land. We can access them by helicopters and airplanes though. It is the same condition as in Aceh province. It is a total disaster,” he carried on.

Before the evacuees, President Prabowo expressed condolences to the people who lost their family mambers in the disaster. The President firmly stated that the Government will not let the people suffering.

“I pray for all of you. Please be patient and strong, and believe that we are all a big family. We will not let you bear the burden by youselves,” he conviced them.
