President Prabowo Visits Family Home of Late Affan Kurniawan, Extends Deep Condolences

President Prabowo Subianto personally offered his condolences to the family of Affan Kurniawan, a ride-hailing driver who died during a protest on Thursday evening (08/28).

The President visited the grieving family at their residence in Blora, Menteng, Central Jakarta area, on Friday night (08/29), to pay his respects and extend moral support. He arrived at around 9:40 p.m., wearing a light brown safari suit and a black songkok.

Upon entering the family’s residence, President Prabowo immediately shook hands and hugged the late Affan’s parents. The grieving parents were visibly moved to tears as they hugged the President. After spending about 20 minutes speaking with the family, the Head of State left the residence.

Earlier on Friday afternoon (08/29), President Prabowo expressed his deep concern and condolences over the incident in a press statement.

“On behalf of myself and the Government of the Republic of Indonesia, I extend my deepest condolences and heartfelt sympathy. I am deeply concerned and saddened by this incident,” President Prabowo said.

The President was accompanied by Defense Minister Sjafrie Syamsoeddin, Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya during the visit. (BPMI SETPRES) (AP/MMB)
