The President’s visit to Padang Pariaman did not only inspect the technical conditions of disaster management, but also reflected the state’s presence for the people during the difficult time.

President Prabowo Subianto, on Monday (12/1), inspected the evacuation post at the Kasai Permai Housing Complex, Padang Pariaman regency, West Sumatra province after his visits to Aceh and North Sumatra provinces. The Head of State was warmly and enthusiastically welcomed by residents who had been evacuated for the past few days due to the flooding in the area.

As many as 1,000 evacuees are reported to have sought refuge at the post, most of whom were families with children who had been forced to flee their homes. Upon arriving at the post, the President went straight to the refugee camp. The residents were very excited as he shook their hands in greeting.

“Despite a difficult situation, experiencing a disaster, your spirit is remarkable,” the President said.

From the refugee camp, the President then headed to the public kitchen area, serving as the center for providing food for the affected residents. He watched the cooking process for food to be distributed and spoke with the residents to check on the adequacy of logistics. He also ensured that the food distribution was running smoothly.

Furthermore, the President also inspected the trauma healing service area, which focuses on vulnerable groups, especially children. In this area, several psychosocial volunteers were seen assisting the children through various educational games and creative activities.

The atmosphere at the post turned warm and cheerful as President Prabowo interacted with the children. This interaction brought smiles to the affected residents in the aftermath of the natural disaster.

The President’s presence in Padang Pariaman did not only inspect the technical conditions of disaster management, but also reflected the state’s presence for the people during the difficult time. Through his presence among the evacuees, he ensures that no one felt alone and all relief efforts were proceeding smoothly.

“The Government of the Republic of Indonesia belongs to the people. We work for the people; we serve the people; we will manage and safeguard the nation’s wealth to support the people.
