President Prabowo Visits Police Officers, Civilians Recovering at Bhayangkara Hospital
President Prabowo Subianto on Monday (01/09) visited civilians and police officers recovering at Bhayangkara Hospital, Kramat Jati, Jakarta. As many as 17 patients, consisting of 14 police officers and 3 civilians, are recovering due to a demonstration burst, while dozens of other victims have recovered.
In his statement, President Prabowo expressed his sympathy to the dozens of demonstration casualties who were under medical treatment.
“This is my call to visit our police officers who are wounded. There were 43 in total, but gladly, most of them have recovered. We have 17 more patients, 14 officers and 3 civilians who are recovering,” President Prabowo stated to the press.
He described the patients’ condition. Some victims must have major surgeries for the installation of a titanium head shell, hand joint, or for kidney damage due to violence.
“[One] of the victims must undergo blood dialysis. If needed, kidney transplantation should be taken; this is a serious condition,” said the President.
President Prabowo also instructed the police officers who were wounded to be awarded with extraordinary promotions. The President also emphasized that those who were proven wrong during the incidents will be punished according to the law.
“When there are fatalities, the ones who are wrong are the ones who started the riot. Innocent people are the victims. The National Police (Polri) has firmly taken actions against their officers who may have made mistakes. This is under investigation. If they are found guilty, they will be punished accordingly. But let us not forget that dozens of police officers are victims as well,” said the President.
“I, the Head of State, Head of Government, must visit them, their families, their parents, their children. On behalf of the country, thank you for your dedication. I ordered the police officers to be awarded with promotions and join education program,” the President concluded.
Joining the President during the visit were Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya and Chief of the Indonesian National Police General Listyo Sigit Prabowo. (BPMI of Presidential Secretariat) (RD/MMB)
